I guess you would call us a Disney Family. It’s always hard with those sorts of things. I don’t mean admitting it, I have no problem with the label itself. I have been to Disney World and Disneyland a combined 25 times in my life. My wife and I were annual passholders to Disneyland while we lived in L.A. We went to Disneyland in 2023 and last went to Disney World in 2019. So we’re a Disney Family.
But the thing is, once you’re at our level, you meet people who are SO MUCH MORE INTO IT THAN YOU. For example, my wife and I spent our honeymoon at Disney World. But we did not get the bride/groom ears or wear special T-shirts or anything like that. My 15-year-old son has been to Disney World 3 times since he was 5. On the bus one day, I met a 10-year-old from the Philly area who had been 30 times. So, there are levels.
So, we’re a Disney Family compared to our neighbors and most of our family and friends and relations. But compared to a lot of folks out there, we don’t even scratch the surface.
What struck me this week was how that is also true in the entertainment business. If one keeps at it for long enough, one attains a certain level of success. But when that happens, one also meets a lot of people who are more successful than one.
So when someone compliments your career with a “You’re doing amazing!”, the instinct may be to refuse it because (comparatively) you are not doing as well as other people you know.
But that’s true all the way up.
I’d imagine that all four actors who won Oscars for acting this year (except maybe Adrien Brody) would kick that compliment back a little because there are people who’ve won two (or three) Oscars that they’ve met and/or worked with.
And when we kick that compliment back (especially from someone not doing as well as us in our industry), it doesn’t help anything. It maybe defends our pride a little but it makes the complimenter feel a little foolish (or confused) and creates a general awkwardness.
So you’re doing amazing.
And we’re a Disney Family.
But 30 times in 12 years is nucking futz.

Talk to You Later
A funny thing happened on the way to the inquisition. I received a comment on the above video from someone who wanted to use the audio on it to “transition a beat.” When I texted Chris to get his blessing, he noticed this video has TWO THOUSAND (2000) VIEWS!?! Which makes it the most watched video of the series BY FAR.
So that will make our script meeting this week a much more interesting chat.

I Live With This - “Ex”
It’s been a long time since five of us hold-up in a lovely apartment in Santa Monica for 3 days and shot this 8 episode series. And while the last 2 episodes are my favorite, this one just works so well as a stand-alone bit.
